UGHELLI— A suspected cultist, Ufuoma Tega, aged 23, has been reportedly beaten to death by his former gang members for allegedly renouncing his membership and “cross-carpeting” to another cult group in his area.
The remains of Tega, a father of two, was found in a bush in Okwagbe community, Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State, after he was reportedly beaten to death by his former gang members.
His death, weekend, heightened tension in the community over fear of a reprisal attack by his new gang members.
Though efforts to reach the state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Andrew Aniamaka, was fruitless at press time, a senior Police officer at the Otu-Jeremi Police Station confirmed the incident to Vanguard.
The security source, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “Investigations carried out so far reveal that the victim was lured to the spot, where his remains was found, and beaten to death.
“His remains have been deposited at the Otu-Jeremi General Hospital’s morgue.”
